Using Our Words This Week: July 2, 2021
A weekly roundup of heartful and helpful things from around the Internet.
Dear Friends,
It’s another special edition of Using Our Words, guest-edited today by Gena Jaffe, mom and founder of Connecting Rainbows, an organization dedicated to connecting LGBTQ+ families with attorneys and fertility specialists all over the US and Canada to make it easy to start, expand, and protect their families. We hope you enjoy her recommendations as much as we do!
Something to read: Some favorite books to diversify your child's library: Love Makes a Family, Pink Is for Boys, and And Tango Makes Three.
Something to learn: Did you know that same-sex cis couples have to actually adopt their kids—even if one gives birth? I started an organization to bring awareness and advocacy to LGTBQ+ family building.
Something to support our community: Consider donating to an LGBTQ+ charity, or volunteering time. Some faves would be The Trevor Project, The Ali Forney Center, or search for a local organization that can support local youth.
Something to consider: Contact your Senators and urge them to pass The Equality Act. It will protect our community across the entire country!
Thank you, Gena, and a thank you to all of our amazing customers who supported the Rainbow Shop during June and our $25,000 donation to GLSEN. We loved seeing all of your rainbows on social media as you celebrated Pride month with your families!
xo,
Team Primary
