We're taking flight this Halloween season with the cutest How to Train Your Dragon DIY costume.
Materials
- One black kids outfit
- Black fabric
- Black craft foam
- Green craft foam
- Stuffing
Tools

Hot glue gun
Instructions
For the wings:
- Trace and cut dragon wing shape from black felt.
- Cut two long strips of felt for the wing's arm straps.
- Attach the wings using hot glue.
For the tail:
- Cut a long triangle from black felt and join the seam using hot glue or hem tape.
- Stuff with stuffing to create the tail.
- Cut three fin shapes from black felt.
- Add fins to either side of the middle of the tail and one on the end using hot glue.
- Cut another fin from brown leather felt for the end of the tail.
For the head:
- Cut a visor shape from black craft foam.
- Attach a piece of elastic to the ends of the visor to secure the visor to the child’s head.
- Using a rectangular piece of black craft foam, attach one end along the front of the visor using hot glue.
- Trim the foam along the edges to form toothless’ head.
- Add additional pieces of foam for the nose and eyebrows.
- Cut two eye shapes from green craft foam and secure them to the head using hot glue.
