A Note from Our Founders
Dear friends,
Our mission at Primary is to stand for all kids. Like many of you, we’ve been following the news — both globally and at home in the U.S. — and asking ourselves how we can support children in communities impacted by violence and discrimination. To that end, we’re donating $25,000 each to two organizations:
UNICEF USA, to support UNICEF’s response and provide emergency relief to children and families in Ukraine and neighboring countries. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to help children, in early childhood through adolescence, fulfill their potential. UNICEF is on the ground and continues to scale up emergency operations in Ukraine and neighboring countries, including by:
- Trucking safe water and pre-positioning health and emergency education supplies
- Supporting mobile teams providing child protection and psychosocial care
- Establishing ‘Blue Dot’ child-friendly spaces to provide support to children on the move, including assisting separated children
The National Center for Transgender Equality, for their work in protecting and advocating for the trans community. The organization works to change policies, and society as a whole, to increase acceptance of transgender people through four major initiatives:
- Racial and Economic Justice
- Legal Services Network
- Voices for Trans Equality
- Families for Trans Equality
Their work is especially prescient now, given the recent increase in actions against trans youth in Texas, and last week’s passing of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in Florida.
We’d love it if you’d join us in donating to UNICEF USA and the National Center for Transgender Equality. We’re also writing letters to the Senate to pass the Equality Act, a landmark bill that would expand existing federal laws to protect people from discrimination based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
We’ll continue to update this post with any more resources we hope are helpful. Thank you so much for being here.
