Instructions:
Make the leaves
-
Cut leaves in various sizes using light and dark green felt.
-
Use light and dark green pipe cleaners for the veins of each leaf.
-
Bend the cut edges in to make smoother ends.
-
Glue the veins onto the leaves. Now the leaves are bendable to give them more shape.
For the crown
-
Glue an elastic band into a loop that fits around the child’s head comfortably.
-
Glue the felt leaves around the elastic band.
-
Twist 2-3 dark green pipe cleaners together to make two sets of antenna pieces.
-
Glue a yellow pom pom to the top of each antenna and glue them to the crown.
For the waistband
-
Glue an elastic band into a loop that fits comfortably around the child’s waist.
-
Glue the larger leaves around the center of the band.
For the shoulder leaves
-
Glue three leaves together in a cluster.
-
Use fabric tape to attach these leaves to the child’s shoulder.
Create the wings
-
Bend the wire to make two matching wing shapes for the top wings. Make two matching slightly smaller pieces for the bottom wings. Leave about 2” of wire sticking out from each wing.
-
Use duct tape to tape the 2” ends of each wing together.
-
In a well ventilated area, glue each wing piece sandwiched in between cellophane.
-
Once dry, trim the excess cellophane from the wings. Lay the wing pieces in place and use duct tape to tape the 2” wire ends together in the center of the wings.
-
Glue two loops of white elastic that will hold the wings over the shoulders to the center of the wings. Wrap and glue a strip of white felt over the elastic and duct tape in the center.
