Wicked Group (Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero)

Materials

For Elphaba

  • One black kids outfit

  • Black fabric

  • Wooden dowel

  • Hula skirt

  • Pipe cleaners

  • Black boots

For Glinda

  • One pink kids top or kids dress

  • Pink tulle

  • Elastic

  • Silver craft foam

  • Headband

  • Clear tube

  • Clear sticks or straws

  • Styrofoam ball

  • Pink paint

For Fiyero

  • One blue kids outfit

  • Black boots

  • Navy fabric

  • Gold paint pen

  • Hem tape

  • Red felt

  • Green pipe cleaner

Tools

  • Scissors

  • Exacto Knife

  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

For Elphaba:

  • Pick the base outfit: Start with a kid’s black outfit. 
  • Create the Broom: Take a hula skirt and wrap around the bottom of a wooden dowel. Secure with hot glue. Trim up the bottom with scissors to make it even. Cover the dowel in brown pipe cleaners to form Elphaba’s broom.

  • Add accessories: Pair with green face paint and boots.

For Glinda:

  • Pick the base outfit and create the tutu: Start with a kid’s pink top or dress as a base. Using pink tule, create an extra poofy tutu.

  • Create the wand: For the wand, paint a small styrofoam ball pink. Using hot glue attach the ball to the end of a clear tube. Attach small clear sticks or straws all around the ball using hot glue. Drip glue down the sticks to form crystals when it dries.

  • Create the crown: For the crown, cut circles from a sheet of sliver glitter craft foam. Layer these together using hot glue to form the crown. Once this is dry, attach to a thin headband to form the crown.

For Fiyero:

  • Pick the base outfit: Start with a kid’s navy blue outfit.

  • Add embellishments to the outfit: Cut a rectangle from navy fabric the length of the front of the kid’s navy top. Using a gold pain pen, draw the line design on the navy fabric. Attach this to the front of the navy kid’s top using hem tape. Cut the lapel shape from peel and stick felt. Cover the sticky side of the felt with the navy fabric, leaving a strip of stickiness to attach it to the top. Continue the line design using gold paint pen.

  • Create the poppy flower: To create the poppy flower, cut out a flower shape from red felt. Gather in the center and twist on a green pipe cleaner for the stem. Place in Fiyero’s lapel.
