Instructions
For Glinda the Good Witch:
- Purchase prop crown to decorate OR create your own with these instructions:
- Cut a zig zag line across two layers of silver cardstock paper. Glue the two layers together.
- Hot glue plastic jewels to the tips of the crown.
- Apply dots of the glitter glue to decorate the crown further.
- Hot glue the ends of the cardstock together in a ring to form a crown.
- Cut a piece of elastic that fits around the wearer’s head and hot glue the ends to the inside of the crown.
- Create the sleeves:
- Measure around the armhole and cut a rectangle of pink felt for each sleeve that uses this measurement and is approximately 2 inches wide.
- Cut a length of pink tulle for each sleeve that is twice as long as the felt piece.
- Fold the rectangle of felt in half the long way, then gather the pink tulle and hot glue it into the folded rectangle of felt.
- Secure the felt portion of each sleeve into the arm hole of the dress using safety pins.
- Create the skirt:
- Cut a length of elastic that will fit around the wearer’s waist.
- Hot glue the ends together to create a waist band.
- Cut lengths of pink tulle that are about 20 inches long.
- Tie them around the elastic band until the band is nice and full.
- Add dots of sliver glitter glue randomly to the tulle/
- Purchase prop wand OR create your own with these instructions:
- Paint a thin wooden dowel silver.
- Cut 2 matching stars from silver cardstock.
- Decorate the stars with the silver glitter glue and add a plastic jewel in the middle of each star.
- Hot glue the stars to the dowel, sandwiching it in the middle.
For Elphaba:
- Create the witch’s hat:
- Cut out two matching circles from black felt about 16” in diameter for the hat brim. Hot glue these circles together to make a stiffer brim.
- Cut out a smaller circle in the center of this circle for the head opening. Cut a large triangle about 12” tall with a rounded bottom edge.
- Roll this into a cone shape and hot glue together and around the head opening circle to make a pointy witch’s hat. Hot glue an elastic band to the hat to hold it onto the head if necessary.
- Purchase prop broom OR create your own with these instructions:
- Cut about 12” tall rectangles from kraft paper and fringe cut the paper to make the broom “bristles”.
- The top of the paper should still be attached so you can roll the paper around the bottom of the wooden dowel and hot glue together.
- Add as much fringe cut paper as you like to make the broom nice and full. Once finished, wrap and tie white string around the top of the paper bristles.
- Finishing touches:
- Wear the green leggings and accessorize with optional green gloves & ribbon bows.
- Optionally, you can paint the face green with child safe face paint OR you can paint the lips green and wear green eye makeup using safe face paint or makeup.
