Materials
- One blue kids outfit
- Butcher paper or newspaper (for the accordion skirt pattern)
- Brown cotton fabric (3/4 yards)
- Fusible interfacing (3/4 yards)
- 7/8” white ribbon (1.5 yds, varies per size)
- 1/8” purple ribbon (1.5 yds, varies per size)
- 5/8” white ribbon (1.5 yds, varies per size)
- Pink pipe cleaners (10 pcs)
- Candy (Mike and Ikes, gummy bears)
- Black boots
Tools
- Heavy starch spray
- Hot glue gun
- Fabric glue
- Needle and threat
- Scissors
Instructions
This costume is the Schweetz-est thing.
For the leggings:
- Fabric glue the 1/8” purple ribbon to the center of the 7/8” white ribbon
- Fabric glue this ribbon to the right leg of the leggings in a spiral from top of the leggings to the hem
- Fabric glue the 5/8” white ribbon to the left leg of the leggings in a spiral (at a steeper angle) from the top of the leggings to the hem
For the skirt:
- Use the black skirt or sew your own pleated skirt with the following instructions:
- Make 2, ¼ circle skirt patterns with butcher paper or newspaper
- (C=2 x pi x r) The circumference is the total waist measurement
- Find the radius using the formula
- Make a ¼ donut circle pattern using the radius measurement for the inner circle
- Pattern 1 will be 7.5” long (measurement from inner circle to outer circle)
- Pattern 2 will be 6” long (measurement from inner circle to outer circle)
- Fold ¼ circle pattern into half (vertically), then another half and another half to create evenly spaced accordion pleats
- Spray the brown cotton fabric with heavy starch spray and iron to stiffen
