Instructions:
For Jessie:
For the hat:
- Cut a large circle from thick red felt for the hat brim. Cleanly cut out an oval in the center of the circle that is slightly larger than the circumference of the wearer’s head. Save this oval cutout for the top of the hat.
- Cut and glue a long strip of thick red felt for the crown of the hat around the center oval opening. Glue the felt oval on top of the crown.
- Glue about a 1” wide strip of white felt for the hat band around the base of the crown.
- Thread a tapestry needle with white yarn and make a wide whip stitch around the brim of the hat.
For the shirt details:
- Cut the yellow chest panel from felt. Use a red acrylic marker to draw the doodle lines across this piece. Attach this to the shirt with fabric tape.
- Cut two rectangles from yellow felt for the sleeve cuffs. Use a red acrylic marker to draw the doodle lines across this piece. Glue three white felt fringe pieces to each cuff.
- Attach the cuffs around the wrists with safety pins.
- Cut two large circle “buttons” from light gray felt. Cut two slightly smaller white felt circles and glue them on top of the gray button pieces. Attach the buttons to the shirt with fabric tape.
- Cut a star from gold craft foam and glue a safety pin to the back of it. Pin the star on the left side of the chest.
For the belt:
- Cut and glue two layers of brown felt together for the belt.
- Glue a gold craft foam oval to the center of the belt.
- Secure the belt around the waist with a safety pin in the back.
For the chaps:
- Cut two layers of long white felt rectangles for each of the chaps and glue two layers together.
- Cut and glue black felt cow print shapes to the chaps.
- Glue two elastic bands to the top back of each chap to hold them onto the thighs.
For Woody:
For the hat:
- Cut a large circle from thick brown felt for the hat brim. Cut out an oval in the center of the circle that is slightly larger than the circumference of the wearer’s head.
- Cut and glue a long strip of thick brown felt for the crown of the hat around the center oval opening. Glue the felt oval on top of the crown.
- Cut a pear shape from brown felt for the top of the hat to help give the hat a tapered front, like a cowboy hat. Glue the top onto the crown, pinching the crown to match the curve of the pear shape piece.
For the shirt:
- Cut a sheet of cardboard to fit snugly inside the torso of the shirt and the sleeves. The shirt should stretch slightly over the cardboard.
- With the cardboard inside the shirt, draw the plaid pattern onto the shirt with a red fabric marker.
- Follow the instructions on the marker to set the ink.
- Roll the red bandana into one long strip and tie it loosely around the neck.
For the vest:
- Use the sunflower tee to trace the width, shoulders, and arm hole curves for the front and back panels of the vest onto white felt. Cut out a front and back panel, leaving a little extra room along the top and side seams.
- Fold the front panel in half and cut a vertical half circle just below the folded edge. The half circle should curve inwards towards the shoulders and sides of the vest.
- Glue the shoulder and side edges together with the seams toward the inside.
- Cut and glue black felt cow print shapes to the vest.
For the belt:
- Cut the belt from brown felt.
- Cut and glue a brown felt holster together. Make a loop on top of the holster to fit through the belt. Loop this holster onto the right side of the belt.
- Glue a gold craft foam oval to the center of the belt.
- Secure the belt around the waist with a safety pin in the back.
For Lilypad:
- Use a pencil to draw the outline of Lilypad onto a sheet of green poster board and cut it out.
- Cut a large rectangle “screen” from blue poster board.
- Cut the eyes, mouth, and tongue from black, white, and red paper.
- Glue all the pieces together onto the green Lilypad base.
- Use a dark green marker to draw the details around the edges of Lilypad and the corners of the screen.
- Use a white marker to write “Hi!” in the center of the blue screen.
- Glue ribbon to the back of Lilypad to tie the costume around the neck and waist.
For Smarty Pants:
- Use a ruler and pencil to draw the outline of Smarty Pants onto a sheet of white poster board and cut it out.
- Cut the yellow handle, blue eyes, mouth, blue screen, and yellow, medium blue, and red buttons from paper and glue them in place.
- Use a black marker to draw the thumbs up sign and “Good Job!” on the blue screen.
- Use a white marker for the yellow, medium blue, and red button details.
- Glue ribbon to the back of Smarty Pants to tie the costume around the neck and waist.
