Materials
- One white baby outfit
- Approx. 1 yard of salmon pink colored cotton fabric (any cotton weave will do!)
- Approx. 1/2 yard of black cotton fabric (a matching cotton weave was used in the photo)
- Polyfil or pillow stuffing
- Sewing machine or hot glue gun
Instructions
For the salmon sashimi
- Measure your baby’s length and shape a piece of salmon from top to bottom out of tracing paper.
- Take the salmon pink fabric and layer twice (to make a top and bottom). Cut fabric.
- Measure the elastic imagining your baby wearing the salmon as a backpack. Place the elastic between the 2 pieces of salmon in the desired place. Sew or hot glue the edges, inverted fabric, and elastic bands pinned between the layers and leave about 2” opening.
- Invert the piece, and stuff with however much pillow stuffing you’d like! Sew or hot glue closed the 2” opening.
For the obi (black sash)
- Cut a long rectangular piece of black cotton fabric and make a top and bottom. Again, leave a 2” opening and invert it so the edges are nice and neat. Then close the 2” opening shut by sewing or hot gluing the edges together.
