Instructions:
For Ryland Grace:
For the t-shirt logo:
-
Cut a square of white felt that fits over the tee.
-
Use a water soluble fabric marker to draw “Horse Shoe Bend Auto Club” and two racing flags onto the white felt.
-
Use a red marker to draw in the letters, and a black marker for the flags.
-
Attach this piece to the tee with fabric tape.
For Rocky:
For the body:
-
Use two large square sheets of cardboard that cover the front and back of the child’s body with extra room around the sides. The sides will warp around the side of the body.
-
Cut a wide U shape for the neckline at the center top of both pieces and cut half U shapes on either side of the neckline for the arm openings.
-
To give Rocky’s body some shape, bend the cardboard horizontally across the chest. Bend the sides in to wrap around the sides of the body and bend the top shoulder sections to curve around the shoulders. Cut two vertical slits at the bottom of this piece and glue the slits overlapping each other a bit to give the bottom edge some shape. Repeat for the back piece.
-
Glue the sides of both body pieces together. Make a vertical cut down the back to make it easier to get into the costume. Use duct tape to tape it together when wearing if needed.
-
Cut and glue cardboard wavy cut shoulder pieces onto the body to hide the straight arm opening cuts.
For the back leg:
-
Cut two rectangles from cardboard and bend both into long tube shapes. Glue the legs together like a bent knee and trim the cardboard as needed to achieve the angle. Trim the top of the leg to sit at a low angle on the body and glue it to the back of the body piece.
For the arms:
-
Cut four rectangles from cardboard and bend them into tube shapes - two for the upper arms, and two for the lower arms.
-
Trim top of the shoulder tubes at 45 degree angle so it fits the shoulder area more comfortably.
-
Glue the tubes together and slide them over the arms when wearing the costume.
For the legs:
-
Cut four rectangles from cardboard and bend them into tube shapes - two for the thighs, and two for the shin areas.
-
Glue the tubes together and slide them over the legs when wearing the costume.
