Cut two triangles from blue felt that fit over the top of the headband and glue together to make a thicker panel.
Cut a small portion of the bottoms of two styrofoam balls for the eyes and glue onto the triangle headpiece.
Cut and glue strips of blue felt around the base of each eye. For each antenna, twist 2 sets of red pipe cleaners together for structure, then twist these ends together to double the length.
Twist a blue pipe cleaner in a spiral at one end of each antenna, then spiral twist an orange pipe cleaner next to the blue one.
Glue the antennas to the head piece between the eyes.
For the body base:
Cut two long panels of blue felt that fit from the shoulders to the knees.
Cut out half circles from the top edges for the neckline and glue one shoulder seam together.
Leave the other shoulder seam open to be able to get into the costume, and use safety pins to secure closed when wearing.
The costume will wear over the body like a poncho. Cut the felt to taper at the bottom.
For the shoulder panels and belly:
Cut two large teardrop shapes from lime green felt and glue a dark blue felt circle onto each piece.
Glue these pieces to the front shoulders of the costume.
For the belly, cut a large red felt oval for the belly and glue onto the front of the body piece.
Use orange pipe cleaners to create the shrimp body lines across the belly.
For the tail:
Cut three blue felt teardrop pieces for the bottom tail pieces, and glue a slightly smaller dark blue teardrop inside each blue piece.
Glue these tail pieces to the bottom front of the shrimp body piece.
For the side legs:
Cut two panels for each pointy leg from red felt and glue them together for structure.
Glue 4 felt legs to each side of the front panel of the costume.
Cut and glue red felt straps to the sides under the arms to tie together to hold the costume together.
For the front legs (to cover crutches as shown on the model):
Cut two long pointy legs from red felt that cover most of the crutches, cutting them several inches above the bottom of each crutch.
Glue a strip of red felt along the top edge of each leg to wrap around the wrist. Secure with safety pins.
Glue two loops of elastic bands on the back of each felt leg for the crutch to fit through - one near the top, and one near the bottom.
This will keep the legs secured onto the crutches.
For the front legs (without crutches):
Make shorter versions of the legs as above to fit around the arms, and glue a double layer of felt together for each leg for structure.
Glue a strip of red felt along the top edge of each leg to wrap around the arms.
