Bumblebee and Flower (Hello Bello x Primary)

Materials:

Tools:

  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • Scissors
  • Double sided fabric tape

Instructions:

For the Baby Bumblebee:

For the top:

  • Cut thin strips of black felt for the front and back of the top. Place them a few inches apart and secure them in place with double sided fabric tape.

For the wings: 

  • Cut a long piece of sturdy wire. Form two oval wings connected by a section in the middle. Wrap the wire ends around the middle section. Cover the middle section with duck tape being sure to cover the wire ends.
  • Place hot glue along one side of each wing and place it down onto a piece of tissue paper. Repeat on the other side of each wing and trim around the edges.
  • Cut a small piece of black felt and hot glue it around the duct tape section. 
  • Cut two pieces of thin black elastic. Knot elastic band straps to the center of the wings to make them adjustable.

For the antenna: 

  • Cut a piece of black elastic that is the same measurement as your child’s head. 
  • Overlap the ends by about 1 ½ inches and hot glue them together.
  • Wrap the top of each black pipe cleaner into a spiral. Trim the bottoms of each pipe cleaner. Hot glue them a few inches apart to the elastic band. Cut small pieces of black felt and hot glue them onto the ends of the pipe cleaners on the elastic band to enclose them.

For the Flower

For the flower headband

  • Cut a piece of yellow felt and hot glue it to the rigid headband.
  • Cut 7 large petals and 7 small petals from the yellow poster board. 
  • Cut a small “v” into the bottom of each petal.
  • Over lap the two ends of each v and hot glue them in place and repeat for all the petals. 
  • Hot glue one large and one small petal together at the base of each petal. 
  • Hot glue each petal set to the top of the rigid headband being sure to slightly overlap each petal set to make a beautiful sunflower headpiece!
