Axolotls

Materials:

• One kids outfit in blue
• One kids outfit in pink
• Pipe cleaners (6 blue or pink)
• Felt (½ yard or blue or pink)
• Black felt
• White felt
• Tulle (blue or pink)
• Firm headband
• Stuffing
• Safety pins
  

Tools:

• Hot glue gun and sticks
• Scissors
• Double sided fabric tape

Instructions:

For the eyes: 

• Cut two circles from white felt and two slightly smaller circles from black felt. 
• Hot glue the black circle to the white ones. 
• Use double sided fabric tape to attach the eyes to the hoodie.

For the head frills: 

• Hot glue blue or pink felt to cover the headband. 
• Fold each pipe cleaner in half. and place the folded end of each pipe cleaner around the headband and space them out so that there are three on each side. 
• Twist the tops of the pipe cleaners together. 
• Cut 6 sets of leaf shapes from blue or pink felt. Be sure that they are as long at the pipe cleaners sticking up from the headband. 
• Sandwich each pipe cleaner between two leaf shapes using hot glue down the pipe cleaner. 
• Cut small slits into each side of the leaf shape to complete the frills.

For the tail: 

• Cut two identical elongated triangles with rounded tips from the blue or pink felt.
• Hot glue matching tulle along the inside of the two long edges. 
• Hot glue the second tail on top, sandwiching the tulle inside of the tail. 
• Turn the tail “inside out” and then fill with stuffing (if you don't have polyfil, use felt scraps, or torn up tissue or paper towels). 
• Seal the open end with hot glue. 
• Attach your tail to the back of the hoodie with safety pins.
